Today I photographed a delivery at Northside Hospital in Atlanta. Kendall was there with her mom and dad. Her sweet husband Richard is in Afghanistan serving our country, so he could not attend the birth of his second daughter Caroline. During the delivery Kendall was able to Skype with her husband thanks to the awesome midwife. I captured a few photos of this special time. I pray that these photos will help Richard relive what he missed in person. Thank you Richard for your service and sacrifice for our country.

This morning defined my purpose as a photographer. I am in such awe of God’s blessings. I truly experienced life’s greatest gift. I couldn’t have been more thankful for Beth Anne and Brandon for allowing me to be apart one of the most intimate moments of their lives. Beth Anne was such a trooper! Thank you both again for this wonderful experience! And be on the lookout for Miss Brooke’s newborn photos!!!

My very first photo shoot…

The Christmas of 2008 my wonderful parents bought me a Nikon D60. I thought I was something special!!! That camera made some ah-mazing photographs! I took that camera everywhere I went. I started taking photos of nature and random macro photos. In August of 2009, (I worked full time at Lowes then) I decided I wanted to take pictures of people.. haha right? My friend Justin agreed to let me photograph his beautiful family at Heritage Park in McDonough. I had such a great time. I honestly remember it like it was yesterday! After our session, I went home and edited all of their photos (in Picasa) and I was so proud of myself. A few days later I delivered them their disc of images. Justin LOVED them. Immediately they were on his facebook and tons of people were commenting! I KNEW that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life! Since then, I have learned so much, spent way too much money, took huge leaps of faith, struggled at times, prayed, prayed, and prayed some more, cried a few times, felt overwhelmed, and so much more. One time I remember feeling that my little business was going absolutely nowhere and I should just quit! Ask my husband – who by the way has been so amazing throughout this journey. I was so upset with how things were going, and worst of all… I was comparing myself to every other photographer out there. Let me tell you, that never stops. Not in my case at least. I still do that. I hate to admit it, but I do. And honestly, its not a good thing. No matter where you are in your business, you are doing better than someone who has given up! My first photo shoot was not great – looking back at it now I smile and realize that I started there, I made those sweet memories for that family, that family loved their photos regardless if they were not “up to par” with every other photographer. Tonight as I answered a few questions for a friend who has also found that photography is her dream as well, I realized that no matter how much you make, how many weddings you photograph, how many “fans” you have, we (photographers) are all the same. We all started from scratch.. we stunk! I was so lucky to have great friends and people in my life who were willing to share their knowledge and help me. I have such a LONG way to go still, and I am looking forward to what the future holds for my little business. I wanted to share my very first photo shoot with everyone. It means so much to me. <3

Dreamy Mountain Wedding

This wedding was in Dahlonega, Ga at White Oaks Barn. This is a brand new venue and so worthy of checking out! I’m pretty sure Gabrielle and Josh were among the first 5 couples to even use it! I honestly can’t describe how gorgeous it is! Gabrielle was a beautiful bride and I loved capturing her day! She has become so dear to my heart. I hope you enjoy these photos!

My Branding Experience

I am writing this blog about my branding experience because I was so satisfied with the outcome I wanted to share it with other photographers and business owners. If you are not a business owner, you may find this blog super duper boring… But I still welcome you to read it!

So I have been trying to find a “style” that was my own. It has been a very hard task. I have talked to several different people and everything was soooo expensive! Being a business owner, I have to learn to cut costs wherever I can. I know you have to spend money to make money but I just couldn’t fathom paying $800+ for designs. So… I continued to search and came across Miss Kaye of DesignedByKaye. Of course, I was a little skeptical using Etsy seeing that I have never spent over $30 on that site.. AND I was about to do business with someone I have never met. After reviewing all of the stuff she had to offer, I talked with my husband and decided it was worth a try!

At first, I was interested in the Complete Photography Branding Package. It had EVERYTHING a business owner could ever want! But I was/am still in love with my logo, and there were a few things I didn’t need in the package. So, I emailed Miss Kaye and asked her if it was possible to customize a package for me. Surprisingly, she said yes! I sent her a list of the things I wanted and was very pleased with the price she quoted me! It was VERY affordable. I went ahead and started this deal with her that same night!

Only a few hours later, after sending her my logo and filling out a personalized questionnaire that helps her learn my style, she replied with a proposal. She mentioned that the pink in my logo threw off my style. It wasn’t what she thought my color should be.. SO she sent me a photo of another color and I fell in love! Here it is!

The top was my original and the bottom was the one she made! Like I said, I am still totally loving my logo, but I am going to admit that I love it even more now! I was so impressed with her taking the time to help me out like that!

I then received my first design board of a few patterns that she came up with. I liked them, but was not sure what I wanted (because I’m indecisive about everything in life– ask my husband) so she then sent me four different ones. I KNEW I loved two of them. So she put them side by side so I could see which I liked better. Here they are!

She made this one so I could post to my Facebook to get some feedback from my awesome fans! I FINALLY decided on the lace one as its more my style and heart. By the end of the day… I had a full set.

My point of this blog was to sing her praises! I honestly have never had a better experience online, and will continue to use her in the future.

Rain is a good thing!!!

Some days I have to pinch myself to be reminded that this is real life! I accompanied ADP this past weekend at a wedding in Panama City. Yep, a beach wedding. Katie planned for blue skies and calm waters, seashell bouquets and a warm breeze. However, God had a much different plan for the weekend. It rained… everyday. Katie was a trouper! She went along with the back up plans and enjoyed every single bit of her day! During the reception, that Luke Bryan song came on.. “Rain is a good thing” Sure was fitting and everyone had a great time singing along… because after today it had a new meaning! I hope you enjoy some photos I snapped!

Hey Fans!

Amy E Photography is looking for 3 High School Seniors (2013 Graduates) to be Senior Representatives for Amy E Photography. You will be promoting Amy E as a Senior Portrait Photographer. By doing so you’ll get a FREE Senior Mini Session, all I ask is that you help promote my photography around your school to other senior students. The more friends you have book with me the more free stuff you’ll get!

What’s the deal?

Well, we’ll meet up, take some pictures at your free 30 minute mini session and afterwards you’ll receive 3-5 images in an online gallery to be used how you choose, Facebook, twitter, etc… I’ll give you Senior Representative Cards with my information to pass out to other students and the more friends you have book with me the more free stuff you’ll get.

Free Stuff you say??

YES! Totally free to you just for signing up you’ll receive the mini session at a location of your choice (within reason), 3 photos edited and placed in an online gallery, and information to hand out to your fellow C/O 2013 students!

Here’s the catch… I told you the more students you have book the more free stuff you’ll get, here goes:

2 Students: A disc with the images of your mini session edited, $20 in printed materials, and $20 off your senior session.

4-6 Students: A disc with the images of your mini session edited, $60 in printed materials, and $40 off your full senior session.

8-10 Students: : A disc with the images of your mini session edited, $80 in printed materials and $60 off your full senior session.

Over 10: A disc with the images of your mini session edited, $200 in printed materials. A second, full senior session at the location of your choice and disc with the images edited.
